Starting open source contribution with coverage.py

Contributing to open source has always been one of those that I have always wanted to get involved with but never actually got around to doing. So, I have decided to start my open source journey with coverage.py. Coverage is a widely used library to check how much of the code(out of the total codebase) actually gets executed when the tests are run. The codebase seems to be well-written and I am also hoping to pick up on a lot of python internals along the way.
